HURST GREEN’S COMMUNITY SHOP and CAFÉ IS CLOSING

The Hurst Green Community Shop & Café (including the Post Office) will stop trading at 5pm on Thursday 20 June.

After six years of being part of, and contributing to, the local community, sadly there are too few people using the shop & café, too little money is being spent, and there are too few of the essential volunteers needed to run it.

Operating and supplier costs have steadily increased, and finances have been badly affected by a series of burglaries, and by significant equipment problems.

Hurst Green will lose a valued community facility with an important social role.

It is possible that in the future, the Parish Council and other residents can restore some form of community use to the premises.

The shop team thanks all those residents and customers who have supported the shop for so long, and the directors pay a special tribute to the staff and volunteers who have given so freely of their time and energy.

Please continue supporting the shop until it closes: it still has stock for sale and bills need to be paid.
